Sharvari, in a recent interview, shared a hilarious incident from her AD days on the sets of Bajirao Mastani and how she thought she had almost her job after a ‘goof up’.
With three back-to-back releases this year and Munjya turning out to be a sleeper hit, Sharvari is currently the talk of the town. For the unversed, the actress who made her big screen debut with Yash Raj Films’ Bunty Aur Babli 2, worked as one of the assistant directors on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2015 magnum opus, Bajirao Mastani starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.
Recently in a chat with Filmfare, Sharvari walked down the memory lane and recalled a hilarious anecdote from the sets of that film.
The ‘Vedaa’ actress shared, “We were on the sets of Bajirao Mastani. Since I had joined the unit a little later, I would get a different job every day on the sets. On that particular day, I was handling the crowd, secondary and the junior artistes. It was a humongous shot on the sets of ‘Deewani Mastani’ song. All the lead actors were present. I remember Priyanka Chopra was sitting. There was this jharokha. Deepika and Ranveer were at the bottom of it, and we had filled the jharokhas with beautiful women and extras.”
She continued, “I was in charge of getting the extras settled down and making sure that they were in the shot. The shot was a full 360 degree, Obviously, there was a staircase to walk. I made everyone settle down and was talking and chilling with one of the ADs there. Sanjay Sir said, ‘Action’. I couldn’t see it as I was on the outside. I am assuming that the shot started because my head was turned the other way and I was chit-chatting with another AD. One girl with a full cake, had started walking up the staircase and I was still faffing because I hadn’t seen her.”

“Somebody pointed at that girl. I looked at her and she had already reached on the top. My soul left my body (laughs). All the ADs were like, go and stop her and I was like, no, if I come in the frame, I will be screwed. I just stood there and didn’t know what to do. Sanjay Sir called, ‘Cut’. I thought ki ho gaya. Teen ghante se lighting ho rahi hai, actors were ready. You know how the sets are..the candles and what not. I just ran to the monitor and starting searching for the girl with the cake. Luckily, the girl had entered when the camera panned. I went to girl and asked her, ‘Aap aise kaise ja sakte hain’. She was like, ‘Arey, mere best friend ka birthday thaa. Aap log sab bas dus minute bolte ho jo kabhi nahi aaya toh main aa gayi.’ She had a cake with a candle on it and a knife, and she just walked into the biggest shot that day. Luckily, Sanjay Sir didn’t find out, but I thought my job is gone,” Sharvari laughingly told the host.
Workwise, Sharvari will next be seen alongside Alia Bhatt in Yash Raj Film’s female-fronted spy film, Alpha. The two actresses will be essaying the role of super agents in this Shiv Rawail directorial.
