Farah Khan recalls a hilarious behind-the-scenes stunt mistake on the sets of Main Hoon Na that left superstar Shah Rukh Khan rolling on the floor laughing.
Farah Khan’s hit film, Main Hoon Na (2004), is loved by millions, but some of its best moments happened by accident behind the scenes. Recently, the director-director visited actor couple Murali Sharma and Ashwini Kalsekar’s house for her cooking vlog.
In her video, Farah shared a hilarious story about actor Murali Sharma that shows how funny filmmaking could be back then.
During a big action scene, Murali, who played Khan in the film, was supposed to use a safety rope (harness) to fly up to the first floor of a building. Back in 2004, movie stunts weren’t as advanced as they are today, and the crew was still learning how to use the ropes safely.
The plan was for Shah Rukh Khan to get out of a car while Murali flew up. But there was a mix-up. Murali was still holding onto the car door when the crew pulled the ropes. Instead of just the actor flying up, Murali and the entire car door flew into the air together!
Murali admitted he was terrified because it was his first time ever flying on a rope. While he was hanging in the air with a car door, the crew below was laughing. When Shah Rukh Khan arrived on set and saw the video of what happened, he literally rolled on the floor laughing.
Even today, this mistake is a big joke in Murali’s house. His wife, Ashwini, teased that whenever they watch the movie, she bursts out laughing because the scared look on Murali’s face in that scene was 100% real!
Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Amrita Rao, and Suniel Shetty in key roles, Main Hoon Na revolves around Major Ram, an army officer who goes undercover as a college student to protect a general’s daughter while secretly trying to reunite with his estranged half-brother
