Salman Khan opened up about his first experience with trigeminal neuralgia while filming Partner with Lara Dutta.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan first publicly spoke about his struggle with trigeminal neuralgia in the early 2010s. For those who ain’t aware, it is a rare and excruciating nerve condition often dubbed the ‘suicide disease’ due to its intense facial pain.

Recently, when the Sikandar star appeared on Kajol-Twinkle Khanna’s latest chat show Two Much with Aamir Khan, the actor got candid about dealing with this condition.

He revealed that he felt the first sting of trigeminal neuralgia when he was filming for David Dhawan’s Partner with Lara Dutta.

“I was doing Partner. Lara was there. She removed a strand of hair on my face and I felt pain. I joked that ‘Wow Lara, you’re electrifying!’ That’s when it started,” Khan recalled.

Speaking about how he has been silently suffering for years because of this condition, even while shooting action-packed films and hosting shows, he stated, “You’ve got to live with it. There are a lot of people living with bypass surgeries, heart conditions, and many more.”

He explained the severity of his struggle with trigeminal neuralgia, describing it as a pain so intense that he wouldn’t wish it on his worst enemy.

Salman shared that he lived with the condition for seven and a half years, during which the pain would strike every four to five minutes, often without warning, even while speaking.

He revealed that simple tasks like eating became agonizing; breakfast could take over an hour and a half, and he would often skip straight to dinner. Even something as basic as chewing an omelet required him to endure immense discomfort, forcing himself through the pain just to finish a meal.

On the work front, Salman is currently hosting the popular reality show Bigg Boss 19. He has also started shooting for Apoorva Lakhia’s Battle Of Galwan.
