Ranbir Kapoor shared why he first turned down Lord Ram’s role in Ramayana and how fatherhood gave him the strength to embrace the part.

Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming film Ramayana is already one of the most talked‑about projects in Indian cinema. But at the teaser launch in Los Angeles, the actor made a heartfelt confession.

Ranbir revealed that when producer Namit Malhotra offered him the role four years ago, he immediately said no. “I’m not fit enough, not good enough, and I won’t be able to do full justice,” he admitted.

But things changed after the birth of his daughter Raha. “That fear very quickly turned into gratitude. I was in a phase where I needed to change my life and lifestyle. The sweet coincidence of becoming a father and playing Lord Rama was the turning point for me,” the Brahmastra star said.

While speaking about how he prepped for his role, Ranbir explained that his connection to the story began in childhood. “The day I saw Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana, it became part of my consciousness. We are all proud of Lord Ram’s journey,” he shared.

He added that the preparation was not just physical but also emotional and spiritual. “It’s about being truthful. I have a lot of love and respect for this part, and when you have that, everything falls into place.”

With Nitesh Tiwari’s vision and a stellar cast which includes names like Yash, Sai Pallavi and Sunny Deol, Ramayana promises not just a grand spectacle but also a story rooted in emotion, faith, and transformation, much like Ranbir’s own path to the film.
