Rakul Preet Singh opened up on losing movies due to nepotism in a new interview.

Rakul Preet Singh, who has predominately worked in Tamil and Telugu film industry, forayed into Bollywood with Divya Khosla Kumar’s Yaariyaan in 2014. After her debut here, the actress went on to feature in Hindi films like De De Pyaar De, Runway 34, Doctor G, Thank God, Cuttputtli and Chhatriwali.

In a recent podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia, Rakul Preet Singh shared her two cents on nepotism, a topic that first caught everyone’s attention when Kangana Ranaut mentioned it on Koffee With Karan years ago.

The ‘Indian 2’ actress acknowledged that she has lost out on films in her career due to nepotism, but also added that she doesn’t sit and sulk over it.

Rakul said, “Yes, this happens, and I have lost films, but I am not the kind of person jo bitter hoke beth jaayega (I am not the kind of a person who will end up feeling bitter. Maybe those films weren’t meant for me.” She said that she believes understanding the ebb and flow of opportunities in life is essential for growth.

Speaking about how her upbringing has helped her to develop a positive perspective, the actress said that her father’s experience in the army taught her not to fixate on what’s beyond her control. She added that she doesn’t think much about nepotism.

Further, to support her viewpoint on how losing opportunities is just a part of life, Rakul mentioned, “If a doctor is unable to join the board and someone else is sent there, it’s just the way life works.” The ‘Boo’ actress said that she chooses to focus on her journey and personal growth, instead of feeling resentful.

On being asked how she would handle this issue if she had kids, Rakul admitted that while she wouldn’t push them to “stand in line and try their luck,” she would support them in any way she could. While highlighting the importance of family support, she said that if a star kid gets easy access, the credit should go to his/her parents who have worked hard for it.

Speaking about films, Rakul will next be seen in Anshul Sharma’s De De Pyaar De 2, alongside Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan. The cast has already begun filming for this project, and their next schedule will be shot in Punjab.
