Mani Ratnam’s historical drama, Ponniyin Selvan 2 continues to impress cinegoers in weekdays.
Mani Ratnam’s latest release, Ponniyin Selvan 2 which comprises of a star-studded cast, continues its dream run in cinema halls. Despite witnessing a drop in its collections on Tuesday, the historical drama managed to rake in decent numbers on its first day of release.
A Sacnilk report stated that the Mani Ratnam directorial collected around Rs 11. 39 Crore on Day 5. The total five-day box office collection now stands at Rs 115.14 Crore. When it comes to its figures, language wise, on fifth day, Ponniyin Selvan 2 collected Rs 8.67 Crore in Tamil, Rs 1.12 Crore in Hindi, Rs 0.55 Crore in Malayalam and Rs 1.05 Crore in Telugu.
Previously, the magnum opus had received an opening box office collection of Rs 24 Crore. It went on to collect Rs 26.20 Crore on Saturday, Rs 30.30 Crore on Sunday and Rs 23.25 Crore on Monday.

Speaking about his world-wise box office figures, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 2 is slowly inching towards Rs 250 Crore mark.
Prior the film’s release, actor Jayam Ravi who essays the titular role in the film told Hindu, “PS 1 had a lot of character introductions and every 15 minutes, there was something new happening; that sort of screenplay was exciting. In PS 2, it’ll be like the climax from the get-go. After PS 1 was released, based on the comments it received, improvements have been made to the sequel; this film will be an upgraded version for sure.”
Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s popular novel ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, this Mani Ratnam stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
