Parth Samthaan said that it was his conscious decision to stay away from small screen to focus on OTT projects and films.
Parth Samthaan became instantly popular with his portrayal of Manik in the hit youth-centric show Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan. He is also known for essaying the role of Anurag Basu in Ekta Kapoor’s daily soap Kasautii Zindagi Kay. After becoming a household name on television, Parth is now eyeing to make it big on the celluloid.
The actor is all set to make his Bollywood debut with Binoy Gandhi’s upcoming rom-com Ghudchadi alongside Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon and Khushali Kumar. In a recent interaction with Hindustan Times, Parth opened up on the same.
Speaking about sharing screen space with Sanjay Dutt, the heartthrob called it an ‘incredible opportunity’ and said that it’s a dream come true for him. He also expressed his excitement over showcasing his versatility on the big screen.
Further, Parth admitted that while it was his conscious decision to stay away from television and focus on films, it wasn’t an easy one.
He explained, “Somewhere or the other, creative space takes over, and there comes a point when you need to put your foot down. It’s not easy, and it will never be because you have to leave your comfort zone. You have to start from scratch. But still, I wanted to take that chance. Even before getting into television, I wanted to do films ever since I was a kid.”
Parth told the daily that his decision to move away from television was met with mixed emotions from his fans, friends and even family.
Elaborating on the same, he continued, “My mom still misses watching me on TV because she used to see me every day in the show. She keeps saying, ‘Beta TV karle, mujhe dikhaayi nahi de raha hai tu.’ But, that’s somewhere you need to make up your mind and do something you really want to do.”
He also addressed the growing importance of visibility on social media and changing dynamics in the industry. According to Parth, there are many good actors who still don’t have a social media presence.
“People often talk to you [and cast you in projects] only because you have a good following on social media, and that, I feel, is quite unfortunate. But, that is how the world has become now and you have to adjust to it,” the actor signed off.
