Actress Shraddha Arya of Kundali Bhagya fame recently opened up on why she didn’t shy away from aging in the show.

One of Zee TV’s longest running TV serials, Kundali Bhagya recently saw a generation leap following which the show’s leading lady Shraddha Aarya is seen playing a mother to grown-up actors, Paras Kalnawat and Basheer Ali.

Following this, a certain section of fans was disappointed with the twist and didn’t want the actress to age on screen. In her recent interview with ETimes, Shraddha revealed why she didn’t shy away taking up this challenge.

The actress shared that initially when she heard that her show is taking a leap, she and her co-star Anjum Fakih who plays Srishty in the show, used to discuss about how the new characters joining the show would address them as ‘maa.’

“Srishty was very clear that she doesn’t want to be called maa or maasi (laughs). We used to feel very odd but when the day came and the leap started, we found Paras and Baseer so cute. Our bonding became strong and we hit it off instantly. Ab bada mazaa aata hai. I am not really bothered that I am playing a mother on- screen, I’m enjoying myself,” Shraddha told the publication.

“I never had any issues but people around me kept saying, so initially, I developed a little issue,” the actress said, adding that the first day when the leap happened, she was happy that the burden would be shared and that she will get time for her personal life. Shraddha admitted that initially, she was reluctant about it but eventually did what her heart felt.

On being asked if she was apprehensive about ageing on screen, the actress told the tabloid, “I’ve been part of this show since the beginning and it’s not like l’ve just joined the show. l’ve grown in the show and otherwise. Ek saal pehle ki Shraddha mein Aur Aaj ki Shraddha mein bahut farak hai.. She was carefree, she wanted to travel abroad every month, hang around with friends. But now when I get some time off, I quickly rush to spend time with my husband. I am more responsible now, so my life has also seen changes. Obviously, it will not be like the show but it will be my story and why should I not play my character. I have become a mother on the show and not in real life.”

Shraddha signed off by saying that actors need to keep an open mind to play all kinds of roles and roles belonging to different age groups.
