Kriti Sanon shared that she called up Alia Bhatt after they both picked up the ‘National Award For Best Actress’ for Mimi and Gangubai Kathiawadi respectively.

Kriti Sanon made her debut in Bollywood with Tiger Shroff’s romantic action flick Heropanti in 2014. Over the years, the actress went on to establish herself as a promising talent with films like Bareilly Ki Barfi, Luka Chhupi, Mimi amongst others. And now, she has added one more achievement to her credit.

At the recently announced 69th National Film Awards, Kriti won the National Award for Best Actress for her heart-touching performance in Laxman Utekar’s 2021 film Mimi. The Adipurush actor shared the award with Alia Bhatt who won it for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Recently, in an interaction with News18, Kriti revealed that she picked up the phone and called Alia Bhatt after the awards were announced, adding that they were both extremely excited about their win.

The publication quoted Kriti as saying, “I’ve always admired Alia as an actor and she was phenomenal in Gangubai Kathiawadi. We’ve both played the title role in our respective films and it’s a proud moment to be sharing this prestigious award with her! I called her up and both of us were just too excited.”

Besides Kriti, her co-star Pankaj Tripathi also bagged a National Award for the Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Mimi. The Dilwale actress said that her excitement was doubled when she heard this news. Kriti said that she called him up too and revealed that he is currently in his hometown.

Calling Pankaj Tripathi one of her favorite co-stars, she told the portal that she is happy he is getting all the validation and love that he truly deserves.

Previously, in a chat with an entertainment portal, Kriti had called her National Award win a ‘big moment’ and added that it got her a bit teary-eyed.

Speaking about Mimi, the film set in a small town, revolves around an aspiring actress who agrees to become a surrogate mother for a visiting couple, only to face a situation where she has to make some tough decisions. The Kriti Sanon starrer is a remake of the 2011 acclaimed Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychy!
