Kareena Kapoor Khan reveals the 5 iconic films she considers 10-on-10 masterpieces. Check out her ultimate watchlist and dream roles.
Kareena Kapoor Khan has never shied away from sharing her love for cinema, but her latest list of all-time favorite movies gives fans a clear look at what shapes her artistic taste.
In a quick chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actress opened up about the five iconic films she holds close to her heart. Spanning vintage Hollywood romance, pure 80s nostalgia, and intense tragic drama, her choices show a strong appreciation for screen presence, innocence, and emotional storytelling.
The Bridges of Madison County
First on her list was Clint Eastwood’s acclaimed 1995 romance. Kareena praised Meryl Streep’s performance, sharing how much she loved seeing Eastwood tackle such a tender, sensitive love story instead of his usual action flicks. Pointing out how wonderfully Streep played a character at that age, the actress mentioned that she would love to star in a mature romantic drama just like it.
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak
Turning to Indian classics, Kareena highlighted the 1988 tragic romance that shot Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla to stardom. She fondly pointed out Juhi’s pure innocence on screen and remembered Aamir’s classic look in the folded black t-shirt. For Kareena, it remains the ultimate tragic love story made even better by its unforgettable soundtrack.
Bobby
Nostalgia continued to guide her picks with Raj Kapoor’s legendary 1973 hit Bobby. She gushed over its sheer grandeur, the central romance, and its playful, “Archie-meets-Bollywood” feel that redefined youth culture in Indian cinema.
Maine Pyaar Kiya
She also selected Sooraj Barjatya’s iconic debut Maine Pyaar Kiya, mostly for Bhagyashree’s gentle innocence. Kareena noted how beautifully the director created chemistry between the lead pair, showing how they spoke volumes through their eyes even when they hardly shared screen space.
Lamhe
Closing out her top five was Yash Chopra’s bold cult classic Lamhe. Kareena admitted her absolute love for the film and expressed a strong desire to take on a double role like Sridevi did, taking on the challenge of playing both mother and daughter in a single story.
One must say, even after two decades at the top of Hindi cinema, Bebo remains a total movie buff at heart!
On the work front, Kareena will next be seen in Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming crime thriller Daayra alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran.
