Anirudh Ravichander who composed the music for Rajinikanth’s blockbuster Jailer, shared how the hit song ‘Hukum’ was conceived.

Nelson Dilipkumar‘s Jailer starring Rajinikanth which released earlier this year, opened to positive reviews from the critics and created a storm at the box office. Fans also couldn’t stop raving about Rajinikanth’s massy performance, Anirudh Ravichander’s exceptional background score and the catchy songs.

Besides the viral ‘Kaavaalaa’ song featuring Tamannaah, Rajinikanth’s ‘Hukum’ track also became a rage with the audience and topped the musical charts. But do you guys know that this adrenaline-fueled song was originally not a part of the film?

Recently, in a chat with Film Companion, Anirudh Ravichander shared that they came up with ‘Hukum’ song after watching the rough edit of the film.

The music composer revealed, “With respect to Jailer, initially, there was just one song in the film which was planned script wise. But when we watched the rough edit of the film, we felt that there’s scope for us to make another song which was ‘Hukum’ which could be placed in the flashback where he (Rajinikanth) enters as a cop and then in today’s day, he enters again and walks into the villain’s den.”

He continued, “Generally, you would just put a background music there. But we felt that we could make a song out of that because of that word ‘Hukum’. When we saw the rough edit, we saw that the character says ‘Hukum’ as a cop. We thought that this word is pretty cool. Why don’t we make a song called this and that’s how it happened. So, when we placed that there, that worked so we took that and placed it in the climax where all three of them (Shivarajkumar, Mohanlal and Rajinikanth’ are coming. It just fell in place.”

Jailer revolves around a retired jailer who ends up revisiting his dark past when he goes on a manhunt to find his son’s killers.
