Hrithik Roshan recounted his reaction when he learnt about his casting in his debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.
Twenty-five years ago, Hrithik Roshan made his stellar acting debut in Bollywood with his filmmaker-father Rakesh Roshan’s directorial Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai opposite Ameesha Patel. With his charming looks and jaw-dropping dancing skills, the actor became an overnight sensation, and had everyone drooling over him.
Recently, Radio Nasha hosted a special event to celebrate Hrithik Roshan‘s 25 years in Hindi cinema along with a special screening of his debut film. At the event, during a conversation with the audience, the War star was asked whether he was prepared to making his acting debut back then.
In response, Hrithik said, “I am never prepared for anything. I have to work very, very hard. So, it was a shock when my dad said he is making this film (Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai) with me.”
The heartthrob said that initially when he was discussing the story with his father, he thought that the film was being made with stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan or Salman Khan. He was in a ‘bit of a shock’ when Roshan Sr. told him that he was launching him in Bollywood with this film.
“We were sitting and we were actually discussing about a story which was supposedly for some actor out there. Some stars out there, there was Mr. Shah Khan. There was Aamir Khan, there was Salman Khan. So I thought you know this story is being made for one of them. And halfway through the film, I started to complain. I said, “Papa, this doesn’t work. It’s not going to suit all these stars. I’ve seen them do all of this in your first films. He said, ” Shut up. I’m making this film with you.” So yeah, it was a bit of a shock. Then, I quietly went to my room and I didn’t know what to do. He came behind me and knocked on the door and said what? I said, “Nothing.” So he told me, “You are getting four months. I said, ‘Give me six’. He agreed, and that’s how it started,” he recalled.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of its 25th anniversary, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai will be re-releasing in cinema halls on Hrithik Roshan’s birthday today.
