Bobby Deol, at the trailer launch event of Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal, narrated how he landed the villain’s role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming film.

Ever since the trailer of Ranbir Kapoor’s much-anticipated film Animal dropped online, it has become a talking point on social media. While fans cannot stop gushing over RK’s fierce avatar, Bobby Deol’s character has also ignited a lot of excitement amongst the audience.

While it’s evident from the trailer that Bobby Deol is pitted opposite Ranbir Kapoor, do you know how the ‘Soldier’ actor bagged this role?

At the recently held trailer launch event in New Delhi, Bobby narrated an interesting story behind his casting in Animal. The actor revealed that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga offered him the role of the main antagonist after he saw his picture from the days when he used to play in the Celebrity Cricket League.

Bobby shared, “Sandeep reached out to me one day over text and asked to meet him. When I got the text, I thought it was a prank. But I went to meet him anyway. When we met, Sandeep showed me a photograph from the days when I was not working, when I used to play in the Celebrity Cricket League.  “In that photograph, I am looking somewhere far away. He showed that photo and said I want you to do this film because I want the expression that you have in this picture. I said ‘Chalo, bekaari ke din kaam aa gaye (My days of unemployment were of some help after all)’. I love you Sandeep for giving me this opportunity.

Bobby Deol might play Ranbir’s nemesis in Animal but the ‘Gupt’ actor was all praise for his co-star.

“I am a huge fan of this man out here. I have worked with many people, stars, superstars, but haven’t seen such a humble and down-to-earth person. I would get lost in his eyes while working with him. He is so mesmerising as an actor,” Deol told reporters.

Animal is slated to hit the theatrical screens on December 1, 2023.
