Himani Shivpuri opened up on why she is no longer seen in Karan Johar’s films after Kuch Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham.

Veteran actress Himani Shivpuri was a regular in Bollywood films way back in the early 90s and 2000s. Amongst all her movies, people still fondly remember her for her roles as Rifat bi (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai) and Haldiram’s wife (Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham). However, after these two appearances, Himani was never seen in any of Karan Johar’s directorial.

Recently in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Himani was asked about the same. In response, the ‘Baaghi’ actress said that her ‘bindass’ comment to Karan after filming the last scene of Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham might have offended him.

Himani recalled, “During the last scene (of K3G), Karan Johar came to me and said, ‘Lovely working with you Himani ji, you are my lucky mascot!’ I told him ‘Please, from next time, give me a good role’. He said ‘yes Himani ji, I will’.”

She said that she later bumped into director Nikkhil Advani at a screening, where he told her that he was about to kickstart shooting for Kal Ho Naa Ho and expressed his interest to cast him in the film.

“I asked Yash Johar, who was standing there, for signing amount and he gave me a dollar! I told my secretary that he should meet Nikkhil because I spoke to him but when he met them, he was told there was no such role for me. Then a few more Dharma films went by, I was not called, so I was left wondering what was happening,” Himani told Siddharth.

Himani later revealed that she met Karan at an awards show and him why she wasn’t cast in Kal Ho Naa Ho, despite Nikkhil approaching her.

The actress said, “Karan told me, ‘No no Himani ji, that role wasn’t good enough for you. Aapke layak role hoga na tab bulayege aapko. Then it struck me, ki meri baat shayad lag gayi. That’s where the chapter ended. I do feel bad, it used to be a lot of fun. We would gossip a lot and were good pals. Maybe we didn’t meet so often that we could break the ice.”

On the big screen, Himani Shivpuri will next be seen in Binny Aur Family which marks the acting debut of Anjini Dhawan.
