Aamir Khan and SS Rajamouli’s cameo in The Ba***ds of Bollywood wasn’t part of the original script. Aryan Khan crafted the scene on the spot in just 20 minutes.

Aryan Khan’s directorial debut series, The Ba***ds Of Bollywood has landed with a bang. Through his mainstream storytelling, the star kid attempts to pull back the curtain on Bollywood, exploring themes like nepotism, fame, and industry politics in a way that resonates with audiences craving behind-the-scenes drama.

Besides its  satirical lens on the industry’s inner workings, the web series is also in the news for its star-studded cameos. One of them is the idli vs vada pav debate scene featuring Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli. But do you know that this unexpected cameo was not a part of the original script?

In a recent interaction with Mamarazzi, Anya Singh, who plays manager Sanya in the series, revealed that Aamir-Rajamouli’s cameo was not pre-planned.

She mentioned that when they were filming at Mehboob Studios, Aryan learnt that Aamir Khan and SS Rajamouli were there for a separate project. Sensing an unmissable opportunity, he instructed Lakshya and Anya to change costumes immediately, assuring them he would write the scene while they got ready. He ended up crafting the entire cameo sequence in just 20 minutes.

Anya said, “The Ba***ds Of Bollywood were written, a few came about spontaneously and weren’t pre-planned. “Like Aamir sir and SS Rajamouli sir’s scene. We were shooting at Mehboob Studio. We were shooting a different scene. And Aryan learnt they are there as well. And he got super excited of course. As we all did. And he said, ‘Chalo I’m going to incorporate a scene. They only have 20 minutes. So Lakshya, Anya, go change.’”

She continued, “I said okay, but what are we going to do? He said, ‘No no. By the time you are back, we will figure it out.’ And in that much time he figured it out, put the scene together. So we just went on to the side and shot the scene. So that was not pre-planned.”

The Ba***ds Of Bollywood is currently streaming on Netflix. Rajat Bedi, who plays Jaraj Saxena in the hit series, recently confirmed that the show is set to return with a second season.
