For weeks, fans of Star Plus’ Oh Humnava Tum Dena Saath Mera were tearing their hair out watching Malti (Shruti Gholap) play the silent, submissive mother. Her only advice to Aparajita (Sriti Jha) was that dreaded six-letter word: adjust. No matter how toxic Lalit (Manoj Chandila) became, Malti kept pushing her daughter into misery. But then came the twist that flipped the entire show on its head.

In a moment that had viewers cheering, Malti finally ditched her quiet act and landed a slap straight across Lalit’s face after she caught him red-handed. For viewers, that single slap felt like justice for months of frustration. And just when fans thought the shock was enough, the upcoming episodes hint at Malti giving Rakshit (Shabbir Ahluwalia) the green light to win Aparajita’s heart.

This brings us to the biggest question: Is Malti’s sudden redemption arc actually convincing, or is it just a lazy script fix to make the audience happy?

On one hand, her transformation feels earned. Real-world psychology shows that people trapped in societal conditioning often ignore smaller red flags until a massive shock shatters their denial. Lalit’s criminal exposure was that violent wake-up call, pushing Malti’s suppressed maternal instinct to the surface. Her plea to Rakshit isn’t about becoming progressive. Instead, it is about a desperate mother clinging to the only safe option left for her child.

On the other hand, one can also argue that Malti wasn’t just passive. She actively enabled Aparajita’s trauma, using emotional blackmail to keep her trapped. Each time her daughter tried to speak up, her guilt-laced lectures about family honor and societal expectations crushed her voice. In short, Malti’s behavior reflected the classic pattern of internalized patriarchy.

Hence, a single slap and a few tears can’t erase months of toxic parenting.  True redemption should be slow, painful, and full of accountability, not an overnight switch from enabler to matchmaker.

Whether convincing or rushed, one thing is undeniable. For the ‘Tisha’/’Aprakshi’ fandom, this twist is pure gold. Rakshit, who has always treated Aparajita with respect and risked everything for her safety, now has her mother’s blessing. The slow-burn romance fans have been rooting for is finally ready to bloom.  The emotional payoff feels earned, and the chemistry between the leads promises to be the heart of the next chapter.

With Lalit out of the frame and a reformed mom cheering from the sidelines, Rakshit now has the perfect chance to be Aparajita’s true Humnava.
